Monarch catcher in the gardens

Today, I met Mike, an entomologist catching Monarch butterflies. He’s testing them for a certain parasite. He told me most of the butterflies they’ve seen from the garden are heading to mexico!! They live up to 8 months and do a lot of traveling within that time. He also said tell where these butterflies have come from, guessing philadelphia. I thought it was the coolest thing! But do know, he returns the butterflies, unharmed to the garden! Here’s some quick photos:
